Lyngby Hovedgade 46, 2800 Kgs. Lyngby
More than 11 million volunteers in 191 countries make up the core of the Red Cross. In Denmark, we are over 32,000 volunteers. Through more than 150 years, the Red Cross has adhered to the same idea: we help people in need without focusing on nationality, ethnicity or religion. The Red Cross is a neutral organization independent from party politics.
In the Red Cross store in Lyngby, we are 70 volunteers who want to make a difference. Here all the used clothes are transformed into humanitarian aid. All the profits go to among other things social work and humanitarian aid both nationally and in trouble spots around the world. However, the Red Cross in Lyngby-Taarbæk also helps locally with a range of activities such as friend volunteers, family networks and Christmas aid.
The store receives clothes from 16 containers located around the municipality. Volunteers sort the clothes and the best clothes are sold in the store. Here you’ll find everything from smart suits and airy summer dresses to sportswear and gala dresses. There is something for every taste.
”it is the nicest way to make a difference” says Hanne Mette who is one of the 70 volunteers in the store, and who every week makes and effort in order to help others.
